Five Players who can replace Mitchell Marsh in IPL 10

Mitchell Marsh’s recent shoulder injury has been a blow to Australia who are currently on tour to India. The Test series is tied at the moment after two Tests with the third set to take place at Ranchi. His injury has forced the Aussie tank to call in an emergency replacement in the form of Marcus Stoinis. The injury doesn’t seem to be just any small problem and according to reports, he might be away from action for a good nine months.
While Australia would be upset to see another player falling victim to injury, the particular news will also make Rising Pune Supergiants uneasy. Although they have Ben Stokes as their prominent all-rounder, Marsh absence will likely do a little damage to the team composition and the Pune side may opt to pick a replacement from the pool of players who were left unsold in the Auctions.
Sportzwiki tries to put together a few names that can potentially replace the Australia all-rounder.
1. Jason Holder:
The West Indies skipper is no mug as an all-rounder. The seam bowler cum lower order pinch hitter has credentials good enough to replace Mitchell Marsh. Released ahead of the auctions by Kolkata Knight Riders, it was surprising to see him go unsold. And, although his stats, both in T20Is and IPL, don’t speak much for his reputation in the league, Holder would be a great option to think over. If given a chance, Holder can probably be one of the surprise weapons if things go his way.
2. Irfan Pathan:
Irfan Pathan once can look forward to a chance to feature in this year’s IPL. The franchise snubbed him entirely when his name came up in the auctions. After an injury-filled past couple of seasons, all of his hopes were dashed on the auction day. However, with the ex-franchise can try to get him in the squad again after the departure of Marsh. He may be underused in the past season but chances can come in plenty this time around if Steve Smith shows a need for an experienced seam bowling all-rounder.
3. Wayne Parnell:
Wayne Parnell is arguably South Africa’s top seam bowling all-rounder. With a consistent pace of around 140s and good hitting skills, Parnell has been his national team’s best option as far as the all-rounder’s spot is concerned. If qualities are concerned (apart from the left-handedness), Parnell seems the apt name in the list of unsold players. The South African export, who was in the Delhi Daredevils camp, has a decent IPL record and will be eager to make an impact.
4. Farhaan Behardien:
Farhaan Behardien is perhaps the most underrated all-rounders in the world at the moment. However, despite this fallback, he has never missed any chance of making an impact for his national side – South Africa. His military medium pace may not match the pace of Marsh but the very same ability can turn out to be a tricky challenge for the batsmen on the slow Indian wickets. Also, his batting abilities are as good as anyone in the list if not greater.
5. Kesrick Williams:
A product of the Caribbean Premier League, the 27-year-old would have ended up grinding at the domestic level in West Indies if he had not given top performances for his side Jamaica Tallawahs. He took 17 wickets at an average of 19.82 and an economy rate of 8.02 to finish as the most successful bowler for Tallawahs and the third highest wicket-taker in the 2016 edition. This showing did a great deal of good to his career, getting him his international debut when he replaced Andre Russell against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi. Though consistent opportunities have avoided him so far but he surely as every ability to replace Marsh in the team.
