One of the biggest concerns in recent times with organizing a sporting event in the sub-continent has been the issues with the security. Every major tournament that has been conducted in the Indian sub-continent has had its own threats and the current T20 World Cup being held in India just got its.

A plane carrying Australian national cricket players had to be delayed because of a bomb threat earlier today in Chandigarh.

The Jet Airways flight had to circle around the city after 5 other planes received severe bomb threats earlier in the day.

The flight that was carrying the Australian squad did not receive any threats but had to be delayed because of the procedures at the airport following the bomb scares.

Jet Airways flight No.2657 is understood to be the plane under scrutiny and was being thoroughly searched at Chandigarh airport.

This led to the flight carrying the Kangaroos to the city take a half an hour detour before they could hit the ground safely.

Most of the players and the team management that got down from the plane hardly knew what happened as they were hassled off to their hotel rooms quickly.

However, it was later revealed that the bomb scare was just a hoax and represented the eve of the Brussels airport attacks.

Jet Airways, the concerned company tweeted out that they received the alert for five flights and that all of those were thoroughly checked at ground level.

They went on to apologize for the inconvenience and urged that the safety of the passengers is of utmost importance.

“We regret the inconvenience caused.

“The safety and security of our guests and crew is always our main priority,” Jet Airways said in a statement on Twitter.

These sort of hoaxes will surely keep the security agencies and the people responsible for the safe end to this T20 tournament on high alert and might increase the number of securities outside the grounds and hotels holding the players.
