Glenn Maxwell blames World Cup high for IPL form slump

  • Winning a world cup is one of the most prestigious achievement for a cricketer and Glenn Maxwell has enjoyed it in his first outing in a world cup. However he has not been able to take his form into the IPL and has not been able to really help the Punjab franchise this season.

With scores of 7, 6 , 15, 33 and 1 in the five matches played, Maxwell felt that the high he has reached after the world cup victory is to blame for the slump in form and that it was really hard to adjust and mentally perform for a tournament so fast after the World cup. He felt that as a player the victory in the final is something that will be there in the mind for a long time and this season of IPL has started too fast for him.

Maxwell who started the previous season with scores close to a ton said that he was hoping that the difference this year would be that he would peak at the right time and said after his last outing that he was looking back in shape.

He also felt that different bowlers have bowled to him with a plan felt that they were not able to implement their plans like they did the previous season and that has led to the KIXP not starting on a brighter note.
