The much awaited encounter between Kings XI Punjab and the Mumbai Indians held at the Wankhede stadium on Sunday proved to be quite a thrilling event of the ongoing IPL. Although, during the batting of Mumbai, no batsman could stay out there for long, leave aside possibilities of hitting boundaries. The runs were, in fact, coming at the pace of a Test match.

However, playing like a true Punjabi against Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indian’s player Harbhajan Singh thoroughly blasted the Kings XI Punjab bowlers all over the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians were chasing the reasonable target of 178 given by Kings XI Punjab. However, the team lost their skipper Rohit Sharma on the second ball and obviously the team had to adopt a back-foot mode.

For Mumbai Indians the wickets kept falling but a wonderful contribution of Harbhajan Singh, scoring a quick-fire brand kind of 64 runs in just 24 balls thrilled every one.

Harbhajan had given a glimpse of his determination when he started with 3 consecutive fours and simply followed the best possible option of hitting and smashing the ball in every possible manner. However despite his heroic efforts, his team fell short by 18 runs.

In doing so Harbhajan Singh has created the following records with his batting –

1. Harbhajan Singh has become the first batsman to get to his 50 in just 19 balls in the IPL, while batting at the number 8 spot.

2. Harbhajan Singh has also become the 3rd highest run getter with his 64 off 24 balls while playing at 8th spot in the history of T-20. The other two happen to be Abongile Sodumo (England) – 79* in 44 balls and Ruchira Palliyaguruge (Sri Lanka) – 65 runs in 26 balls

Many of the fans of Harbhajan Singh do expect to see a few more fiery innings from him.
