Harsha Bhogle, the noted Indian cricket commentator and expert, is all set to return to commentary for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after serving an exile of one year, as per a report in Mumbai Mirror. Harsha was suspiciously removed from the commentary team of IPL 2016, as there were reports that some players were unhappy with his post-match analysis, specifically about team India.
In addition to that, Amitabh Bachchan, veteran Indian actor, also raised concerns over an Indian commentator speaking in favour of the opposition team. Though, he did not mention the name but sources said he pointed towards Harsha Bhogle. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the then Indian skipper, too joined the chorus and put up a tweet supporting Bachchan, that too just a few minutes after the completion of the T20I game against Bangladesh (2016 World T20) that India won by tooth and nail.
Bhogle was soon removed from the commentary panel of IPL 9 but now with the BCCI undergoing a total overhaul, the COA has decided to bring back the ‘Voice of Indian Cricket’ to the commentary panel.
However, the board is yet to make an official announcement regarding the same.
