Australia’s Jose Hazlewood has decided to opt out of the 2015 season of the IPL because of a tight International schedule following the IPL. Australia is set to set to play Frank Worrell Trophy next months and then travel to England to defend Ashes. Hazlewood , out of nowhere, has announced himself on the international stage and he not only might play the Ashes but could also be one of star bowlers for The Ashes.
Retained by Mumbai Indians for $100,000 contract, Hazlewood missed the opening game of Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knightriders and then speculations started about his participation in the event this year.
Playing it safe, Cricket Australia, it is understood, forced Jose Hazlewood to opt out of the IPL 2015 . Earlier, Mitchell Starc, the architect of Australia’s World Cup triumph also opted out of initial stages of the IPL, as a caution for the upcoming International matches.
CA General Manager of Team Performance Pat Howard said that Jose’s workload has increased a lot in the past few years and since he joined IPL, this has significantly increased. It will be good for Jose if he utilises this period ahead of a busy winter .
“Josh’s workload has changed significantly since he first began attending the IPL,” said Pat Howard. “The IPL is the players’ leave period and in Josh’s case it was deemed that not playing was the best use of that time in the lead up to a busy winter. This was agreed to with the IPL following discussions at the end of the Test Series.”
