Former cricketing legends will poise the opening ceremony in Melbourne and Christchurch on 12th February, 2 days before the International Cricket Council World Cup 2015 starts with the co-hosts Australia and New Zealand appearing in the first 2 matches.
The Christchurch programme will be complimentary, friendly programme feature appearances led by New Zealand artists Ginny Blackmore, Solo3 Mio, and Hayley Westenra, as well as cricketing superstars Sir Richard Hadlee, Stephen Fleming and New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum.
The Melbourne ceremony will include former and current World Cup crikcters and superstars, music and cultural show, a magnificent fireworks performance and a yet to be disclosed “special moment”. It will demonstrate the variety and excitement of the 14 competing countries and add some icons in Australian event.
The opening ceremony in both Melbourne and Christchurch will form portion of a broadcast package to be broadcasted live around the globe by Star Sports and its licensees. In Australia it will televised live by the Nine Network and FoxSports, and in New Zealand on free-to-air on Prime and Sky Sports.
