Sri Lanka moved within a striking distance of sealing a spot in the Quarter-Finals of the ICC World Cup 2015 as they defeated England by 9 wickets in their Pool A encounter at Wellington. Chasing 307 runs to win, Sri Lanka cruised home by 9 wickets with 16 balls to spare courtesy well compiled tons from Lahiru Thirimanne and Kumar Sangakkara. With this win, Sri Lanka have a foot in in the Quarter-Finals while England are in a spot of bother egarding their Quarter Finals berth. Kumar Sangakkara was named as the Man of the Match.
