Virat Kohli injured himself during day one of the Ranchi Test match.

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been ruled out of Ranchi Test. He landed awkwardly on his shoulder during the 40th over of the Australia’s innings on day one of the game. He soon went back to the dressing room and did not return to the game again. It was Ajinkya Rahane who led the team in his absence.

In the post-match press conference, the Indian fielding coach R Sridhar revealed that Kohli will undergo scans and a decision his availability was to be taken in the morning but the intensity of the injury can be known by the fact Kohli has been ruled out of the game on the eve of the second day itself.

This has come as a big blow for the Indian team as skipper Virat Kohli has led the team from the front in the current series. Though he hasn’t fired with the bat till now but still he has led the team with an example. The Australian team had tried to sledge Indian team right from the day they landed on Indian soil but Virat Kohli has given it back in the language they understand the best.

Surely, Kohli’s being ruled out of the game is a big blow for the Indian team. Ajinkya Rahne will continue to lead the team in the game ahead. He led the team in the last 50 overs of the day after Kohli left the field.

At stumps, Australia was in a strong position as the visitors had scored 299 runs at loss of four wickets.
