BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) announced that team India will get a new coach after the conclusion of World T20 2016.
A BCCI official said that the BCCI advisory committee will select the coach. Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman are part of that committee.
The official commented on the selection of the Indian coach, “After World T20, whatever tour is, we would like to have the coach in place. We will get time during IPL (in April-May) so our effort will be to call the meeting of the advisory panel and decide on the coach. We will begin the process after the World T20.”
The 2016 World T20 will be held from 8th March to 3rd April in India. Following that, the 2016 IPL will begin on 9th April and will end on 29th May.
On the other hand, as per international cricket schedule, India will tour West Indies after the conclusion of IPL. So it can be expected that Indian cricket team will get a new coach before the Caribbean tour.
BCCI has already announced that Ravi Shastri will remain India’s team director till the World T20 along with the other support staff Sanjay Banger, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar.
Duncan Fletcher was the last full-time coach of Indian cricket who served the team from April 2011 to 2015 World Cup. After that, Ravi Shastri manages Indian team as team director.
