Inzamam ul Haq has backed the decision of PCB to retain Misbah ul Haq as the captian of the Test and ODI until the 2015 World Cup. He also added that the combination of newly appointed coach, Waqar Younis and Captain Misbah ul Haq will work well for the team.

Having a long term combination of a coach and a captain is always good for the team as it helps them to understand the team better and bring out the best from the team.

Pakistan’s history with the captains and coaches have been very good .Even the newly appointed coach Waqar Younis had earlier left the job in 2011, citing his personal and health reasons as the cause of the decisions, but it was very clear that he was not happy with the administration.

Even the captains has faced a revolt by the team members. Be it legenday Imran Khan or Wasim Akram or the current Pakistan player Younis Khan. But , Misbah has so far been fortunate in this case and has went on to become the 5th most capeed Test captain for Pakistan , after he was first appointed the captain in 2010.

According to Inzamam, Misbah ul Haq has done a good job so far, both as the captain and batsman, considering the fact that he took over the captaincy in tough situation when Pakistan Cricket was lacking a leader and had just faced a match fixing scandal, losing their captain and 2 premium strike bowlers.

Talking about Waqar Younis, he said that Waqar did well even the last time around in improving the team’s performance .

Pakistan has not won a World Cup after 1992 , apart from a T20 title, and will look to make it count this time under the new coach Waqar Younis and retained skipper, Misbah ul Haq.
