Mahendra Singh Dhoni might have been donning the Rising Pune Supergiant jersey from the last couple of years in the Indian Premier League but his wife Sakshi Dhoni’s heart, it seems, is still beating his former team Chennai Super Kings.

Well, one cannot blame her for being still in love with the now-suspended franchise. After all, Dhoni became the most decorated skipper of the Indian Premier League with the Chennai franchise. One of the most successful captains of all time, Dhoni led the team from Chennai to two IPL titles(2010, 2011) and two Champions League Twenty20 titles(2010,2014). Not only that, they have also reached the final of the IPL for a record six times. They reached the final of IPL for four straight seasons from 2010 to 2013.

However, the Chennai Super Kings’ brilliant journey in the IPL came to an abrupt end, when the team along with Rajasthan Royals were suspended from the league for two years on corruption charges. But despite not being in the IPL from the last two seasons, its popularity among the fans have remained intact. In fact, not only the fans but also the players and others related to the team have the same emotions with the team and Sakshi Dhoni is no exception.

She shared a photo of herself wearing a Chennai Super Kings helmet and with the caption “throwback.” She was constantly seen cheering the Chennai team and her husband at the stadium. Well, the wait will finally get over for her as well as the millions of fans when the two-time IPL champions return to the IPL next year.

#throwback !!

An avid sports lover, i always wanted to pursue a career in football. But just like the millions out there i did not put in the hard work needed to achieve my dream and now i have become a fan instead of the player. Anyway, writing for sports has kept me closer to this field. One more thing, yours sincerely is a die-hard Liverpool fan. You will never walk alone.
