Ending all the speculations surrounding his date of return, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has revealed he will make his much-anticipated return to the cricket field on April 14.

The India skipper has remained on the sidelines since injuring his right shoulder during the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Test last month. With the Indian Team scheduled to play the Champions Trophy in June, Kohli had earlier said he would return to the field when he is “120 percent fit”.

“The priority is Indian cricket with the Champions Trophy coming up and I don’t want to take any risks. I have not set any date and I will only return when I am 120 percent fit. Having said that I would like to return to the field as soon as possible,” the 28-year old had said on the sidelines of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s opening IPL encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5.

But the Delhi lad, it seems, is close to regaining full fitness and will take the field on April 14 when the last year’s runners-up take on Mumbai Indians at their home ground. He revealed the news through his Instagram account.

Posting a video of his workout session, the Indian cricket star wrote:“Can’t wait to get back onto the field. Almost there now.💪✌️😃 14th April ⏳”

The news will be a huge relief for the team which is struggling to do well in the absence of some of their key players. In the three matches they have played so far, they have lost two and Kohli’s return will surely boost their morale. AB de Villiers has already made a stunning comeback by scoring 89 runs in a losing cause against Kings XI Punjab.

Kohli’s comeback will also provide RCB’s batting lineup the much-needed stability. So far, the top-order has looked unsettled and has been one of the biggest reasons for Bangalore’s poor start to the season. After the Shane Watson-Chris Gayle combination failed in the opening two games, the team management tried Watson and Vishnu Vinod in the third game but to  no avail. Kohli will surely open the innings but it will be interesting to see his partner as both Gayle and Watson are looking out of sorts with the bat but Watson’s all-round abilities tilts the balance in his favour.

An avid sports lover, i always wanted to pursue a career in football. But just like the millions out there i did not put in the hard work needed to achieve my dream and now i have become a fan instead of the player. Anyway, writing for sports has kept me closer to this field. One more thing, yours sincerely is a die-hard Liverpool fan.
    You will never walk alone.
