On December 8, Sanjiv Goenka’s New Rising won the bid for Pune while mobile company Intex won the bid for Rajkot. Both new franchises won their bids after a reverse bidding process in Delhi. Goenka’s company will pay 16 crores while Intex will shell out Rs 10 crores to the BCCI. They are the temporary solution to IPL as they will play in the 2016 and 2017 editions until CSK and RR back in the action.

Pune will get the chance to pick the players first because they were the lowest bidders to buy the new team for two years.

BCCI called the bid after CSK and RR were suspended by the Supreme Court of India as their officials and co-owners were found guilty in the 2013 spot-fixing scandal, which was investigated by the apex court-appointed Justice RM Lodha committee.

However, both CSK and RR will back in the IPL as their ban get over after two years.

All crickters from the two suspended franchise will be divided into two groups of caped and uncapped and top names will be sold through the draft system. The two new teams will have a minimum of Rs 40 crores and a maximum of Rs 66crores to buy players.

Top Indian players who are expected to feature in the draft are MS Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin, Suresh Raina, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. They will attarct the attention of the auction. In 2008 IPL CSK grabbed Dhoni with a million dollar bid in the first ever players’ auction.

Dhoni who led CSK for the last eight seasoopns is expected to be first in the draft.
