Chris Gayle, a member of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has backed Indian batsmen and has said their form IPL will have no effect on their performance in Champions Trophy. Gayle showed hopes that soon all the members will be back in form as he said,
“The good thing about T20 cricket is that it’s a very quick format compared to ODI cricket, where you can give yourself a chance to bat a bit longer. It gives you more time to get set. With IPL pushed aside now, they (Kohli, Jadhav) will have enough time to regroup.”
Gayle further termed all the Indian players as match winners and added,

“If the Indian top-order batsmen get set, we all know how dangerous they can be. We all look forward to that. Forget about the current IPL form, all of them are match winners. Everybody will be eager to become a standout man to win the tournament for their team. They will be hungry to prove a point,”

Surely, the form of Indian batsmen in IPL has raised few concerns as none of the batsmen could really come up with the performance which can develop confidence in people watching the game from outside. Whether talking of Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni or Kedar Jadhav, none of them has come up with consistent performance and it will be interesting to see whether they can come out of their poor form soon so as to perform well in the ICC Champions Trophy.

India is the current champions of champions trophy and surely players need to get back in form so as defend the title. Talking of Chris Gayle, he will not be the part of the tournament as West Indies have failed to qualify for the Champions Trophy. They were not in the top eight position in ICC rankings as on cut-off date and have failed to make it to the tournament. Not just this, there is a case when West Indies might also fail to attain a direct qualification for ICC World Cup 2019.

Gayle is not the only player to back the Indian team as earlier, Michael Clarke has already predicted a final between India and Australia.

The Indian cricket team is going with high expectations and will have to perform well under the new skipper Virat Kohli.
