As we are already in to the fag end of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament which drew the record number of viewers already following magical performances both with the bat and a ball which was further decorated with the acrobatic effort from the fielders, as umpires learned through their way after initial hiccups that sum up the timeline of the IPL 2017 edition.

So far, one of the most successful cricket league has impressed the International cricketers, who were also the part of different franchises before turning mentors and chief coaches which further shows how cricketers have come under one room by the emergence of global paced-league, as IPL was introduced by Lalit Modi in 2007-08 before it became an instant hit in the country while widening its roots to improve with every edition under the aegis of Board of Control for Cricket in India.

We have churned out the details which team could qualify for the much-awaited playoffs after the packed schedule had drawn out significant results so far, as start studded team Bangalore is languishing at the bottom of the table with one match to go.

We’ve followed the table on the basis of points claimed by teams which are further comprised of net run-rate that plays a significant role while teams are vying for the top four positions with the neck-to-neck with Delhi Daredevils, Gujarat Lions and Royal Challengers Bangalore already out of the playoff race.

Mumbai Indians Qualified For The Play Off:

As Mumbai Indians have already qualified for the playoffs with 18 points in 13 games, they will face-off Gautam Gambhir-led unit on May 13 in Kolkata.

Kolkata Knight Riders Second Spot:

If the hosts Knight Riders could clinch a win in an all-important clash, the Shahrukh Khan-owned team will be the second side to qualify for the 2017 edition’s playoff stage with 18 points in 14 matches.

A Comprehensive win against visitors will see them topping the points table, as Kolkata has +0.729 net rate, whereas, +0.810 has been registered by Mumbai Indians.

However, if Mumbai Indians could claim a win, then Rohit Sharma-led side will rule the points table while having two shots to go with as an advantage – to qualify for the final of the tenth edition with 20 points.

However, mathematically the Men in Purple can be in a spot of a bother if they will lose their game by a massive margin and if Kings XI Punjab will eke out a win against Steven Smith-led Rising Pune Supergiant after Gujarat Lions ruining the part of Sunrisers Hyderabad which further seems to be a highly improbable task.

It’s going to be an interesting match more like a mini-final between Rising Pune Supergiant and Kings XI Punjab, who so ever wins this match, will qualify directly for the knockout stage, as Supergiant net run-rate is already into a minus which is further a cause of worry for Smith’s team.

Sunrisers can reach to the top two spot only after Kolkata will lose out to Mumbai Indians before Kings XI thrash Pune.

If David Warner-led side emerges as victorious against Gujarat Lions they will go up to 17 points in their 14 matches to see them at number two position on the points table before Mumbai Indians will face Knight Riders in the night game.

If Gujarat Lions would be able to trounce Sunrisers, the Hyderabad-based outfit then has to wait for the result of Rising Pune Supergiant and Kings XI Punjab game. If Mohali-based Kings XI outfit would be able to win their match respectively they will be the third team with Supergiant going down the table at the fourth position.

Interestingly, all the eight teams have played 13 matches in the group stage with the only game remaining in the fixture before playoff stage will kick off from May 16.

Total four teams are vying for three spots on the points table but there does seem too much to happen all at once unless and until anything dramatic situation will take place.

The crux of the IPL play-off berth is simple; if Knight Riders will claim a win against Mumbai Indians before Rising Pune Supergiant trounce Mumbai Indians, the three teams will go up to 18 points alongside Mumbai Indians as the fourth team will be Sunrisers Hyderabad even if they lose out against Gujarat Lions while staying on 15 points.

Here is the list of four teams which are in 2017 playoffs fray:

*Kolkata Knight Riders – 16 Points; Net Run-Rate +0.729
*Rising Pune Supergiant – 16 Points; Net Run-Rate -0.083
*Sunrisers Hyderabad – 15 Points; Net Run-Rate +0.565
*Kings XI Punjab – 15 Points; Net Run-Rate +0.296
