Hits of the Match
1: Virender Sehwag: The stage was set for him to blast and do it on a bigger stage. He went after each and every bowler .On his way to 122 runs from 58 balls, he scored 12 boundaries and 8 sixes. He was heavily criticised for not converting his starts to big ones and he did it in style. It was his second century in the IPL and has just shut the critics. He was very indifferent , the way he celebrated and the emotions just coming out.
2: Suresh Raina: After CSK lost the 1st wicket, everything seemed over , but one man seemed to have other options. He belted every bowler coming his way .He scored 87 runs from just 25 balls and looked set for a match winning one, before being run out due to a poor calling by Brendon McCullum.
3: Akshar Patel: On a day when all the bowlers were belted all over the ground, He was the lone guy escaping that. He just went for 23 runs in 4 overs and bowled 2 good death overs which turned the match in favour of Kings X11 Punjab.
4: David Miller: His contribution in the batting was overshadowed by Sehwag but his finishing touch just provided the required impetus to the innings. He scored 38 runs in just 19 balls.
Flops of the Day:
1: Brendon McCullum: He looked out of sorts today and could just scored 11 runs from 16 balls. But, the biggest mistake was a poor calling resulting into Raina’s dismissal, who was looking all set to run away with the game.
2: Dwayne Smith: He has been the main reason of CSK’s success this year. After CSK were left to chase a big score,it was expected of him to give a strong start but he just managed 7 runs from 11 balls.
3:Ravichandran Ashwin : He did not have a very productive IPL, from the standards he has now set for himself. He , first went for 44 runs in 4 overs and picking up only 1 wicket that too on a poor delivery. When , it came to batting, he could not do anything significant to get his team out of the trouble.
4:Mohit Sharma: Perhaps he was not the worst bowler on the day. But , everyone have sets standards for themselves . This was not expected of the purple cap holder to go for 46 runs and just picked up a wicket.
