Karnataka defeated Rest of India by 246 runs in the 2014/2015 Irani Trophy match at the Chinaswamy match at Bangalore just fewhours ago. It was another excellent performance by Karnataka who played like champions and did a tremendous job of retaining the title they won in 2013/2014 season.

Rest of India won the toss and elected to field. Karnataka did not begin well losing the first wicket on the score of 26 which was the wicket of Robin Uthappa. They lost the wickets of Samrath and Manish Pandey before lunch. After coming back from lunch Aggrawal got for a well made 68 runs. After Nair and Reddy created a useful partnership. Both of them scored fifties and then lost regular wickets. Karnatka were bowled out for 244. The pick of wickets for Rest of India was Varun Aaron picking up 6 wickets, Thakur 1, Dhawan 1 and Ojha 2. At the end of Day Rest of India were 20 for 1 losing the wicket of Unmukt Chand.

At the start of day 2 Karnataka bowled brilliantly picking a wicket of Jiwanjot Singh when the score was 23. After that Paras Dogra and Naman Ojha tried to steady the innings with partnership of 49. They lost wickets of Dogra, Naman Ojha and Manoj Tiwary. They were 102 for 5. After that Jayant Yadav and Kedar Jadhav made useful contribution to reach the score 182 when the sixth wicket fell. Kedar Jadhav was the highest scorer of innings with 78 but Rest of India was bowled out for 264 taking a slender lead of 20 runs. Vinay Kumar, Mithun and Gopal picked 3 wickets each and Arvind picked 1 wicket.  At the end of 2nd day Karnataka were 39 for 0.

At the start of 3rd day Aggrawal and Samrath put a 55 first wicket stand. Aggarwal got out for 28 runs. After that Reddy and Samrath put a steady partnership of 49. They lost 2 wickets in space of 16 runs. Then Samarth and Nair put up another good partnership of 71 before Samrath was out for well made 81, then another good partnership of 106 runs was made between Nair and Pandey. Nair was out for 80. They lost the wicket of Gopal when the score was 289. At the end of day Karnataka was 341 for 6.

At the start of day Karnataka were bowled out for 422 with Manish Pandey remained not out with 123. The pick of bowlers for Rest of India in the 2nd innings was S Thakur picking 5 wickets, Varun Aaron 2, Ojha 2 and Dhawan 1. Chasing a target of 403 they lost the wickets of Chand, Jiwanjot Singh and Naman Ojha when the score was 8. Then Jiwanjot Singh and Tiwary tried to rebuild the innings. After losing Jiwanjot when the score was 63, they lost wickets at regular intervals. Jadhav was the top scorer with 56 and was bowled for 156. Karnatka won the match by 246 runs and retained the title that they won in 2013/2014.
