Javed Miandad, former Pakistani batsman, captain and coach, has said that BCCI is not starting the bilateral series against Pakistan because of the fear of losing the series. Earlier, the scheduled meeting between the officials of the BCCI and the PCB had to be stopped in Mumbai as the Shiv Sena workers made their way into the BCCI office in Mumbai and forced the BCCI to stop any sort of meeting with the PCB to resume the bilateral series.
Miandad added that BCCI is not serious about having bilateral series but went on to say that in future, it will be BCCI, who would ask PCB to have a bilateral series. He also asked PCB to boycott the next year’s T20 World Cup to be played in India.
Earlier, PCB has pulled out of the Blind Cricket tournament to be played in India earlier next year.
Javed Minadad has a history of engaging himself in controversy, be it on the field or off it. The famous incidents are his spat with Dennis Lillee, where he was almost ready with his bat to hit Lillee. The other being him mocking Kiran More in the 1996 World Cup.
Shiv Sena has done several other acts causing hindrance to the Indo-Pak series and a famous one being the digging of the Kotla pitch when Pakistan came here to play in 1999.
