One of the Akmal brothers to have played for Pakistan in the recent times, Kamran Akmal has not been in the national team for more than a year now. He last played for Pakistan in April last year in the T20 World Cup and has never featured in a game for Pakistan.
However, the 33 year old Akmal feels that he still has it in him at that age to make a comeback into the national team. He said that he is not ready to give up on his career as yet and that he is also ready to play as a specialist batsman alongside Sarfaraz who is now behind the stumps for Pakistan.
Akmal said that it is not hard for his team to pick two keepers as many teams have been doing in recent times. He added that he was working hard to get his chance in the team and that he is willing to take on any role the team needs him to play.
Akmal will be a part of the Trinidad and Tobago team at the CPL and this will be a very important tournament for him to prove himself. Akmal said that he will try to give his best in the Caribbean and that his main ambition is still to get a place in the national team. He added that the international experience in the side will help him improve his game.
Pointing out the case of Shoaib Malik and Shaun Marsh who have got a chance to play their national teams after being left out for a long time with performances in leagues across the world, Akmal said that he will try and make this CPL a away to come back into cricket.
He also praised Sangakkara, Gilchrist and MSD and said that he looks up-to them for inspiration and that they were exceptional for their countries over a long period of time.
