As Hashim Amla gets ready to play his 100th Test match in the final game of the three-match series against Sri Lanka on Thursday (January 12), the whole cricketing world is busy paying tribute to one of the finest batsman of this generation.

An epitome of calmness and composure, the elegant right-handed batsman has become the eighth player from South Africa to earn 100 Test caps. Currently going through a rare lean phase, the 33-year-old carved his own place in the history of South Africa cricket when the likes of Jacques Kallis, Graeme Smith and AB de Villiers were ruling the roost. The first Proteas cricketer to notch up a triple century in Tests, he has scored 7665 runs in 99 Tests so far including 25 centuries and 31 half-centuries.

As expected, tributes have been pouring in from all corners to acknowledge the remarkable feat of the South African batting star. Here are some of the best tweets:

Anyway, writing for sports has kept me closer to this field. One more thing, yours sincerely is a die-hard Liverpool fan. You will never walk alone.
