India yet again make it to the record books and this time the record is not so great to be proud of. India’s first innings score of 152 against England saw 6 ducks from Indian batsman, which is also the most by any team.

Though it is not the first time when there have been 6 ducks in a test innings, there have 3 instances earlier as well and India is now the 4th team to do this. Let us take a look at teams who have had 6 ducks in a test innings –

Team No. of Ducks Opposition Year
Pakistan 6 West Indies 1980
South Africa 6 India 1996
Bangladesh 6 West Indies 2002
India 6 England 2014

Stat updated till August 7, 2014

India has now joined the elite list in which till now only Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh were a part of.

James Anderson and Stuart Broad were the main bowlers who broke apart the not so experienced Indian batting line-up and as a result of which there were 6 ducks in the score card. The players who got out on a duck were Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja,Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pankaj Singh.

An other thing to take note of his no team has won a match after recording 6 ducks in a inningsin the previous 3 instances. While Pakistan was able to draw the match. South Africa and Bangladesh lost the match. It will be interesting to see if India can make an other record of winning a test match after having 6 ducks in a innings.
