Within a test match there are various kinds of records such as most number of test centuries, most number of wickets, most number of maidens and many more. It becomes very much interesting when we track records of some unique events. Tracking records of most number of tests not outs is one of the unique events. Records relating to unbeaten batsmen, who remained not out in Test cricket. Mostly tail-enders remain not out in test cricket and they are predominant in this record.

1. Courtney Walsh– He is a former international fast bowler who represented West Indies from 1984 to 2001. He also captained 22 test match for West Indies and had remarkable opening bowling record. But other than that he also holds a record of most number of not outs in test cricket. Courtney Walsh remained unbeaten in 61 innings. One of the reasons behind this is that he came on to bat at last as he was a fast bowler. So this is one of the funny records which he has set.

2. Bob Willis and Muttiah MuralitharanBob Willis is a former English cricketer and was an aggressive fast bowler. He is one of England’s leading wicket takers. Similarly Muralitharan is a fromer Sri Lankan cricketer, who is rated as one the best test match bowlers and holds various records.       But both this tail end batsmen is holder of a record of being second best of being unbeaten in test cricket. They both remained not out in 55           innings and thus setting a record of being not out for most of the time. Again this was due to the fact they had to bat at the end of the innings.

3. Chris MartinChris Martin is a New Zealand cricketer, right arm medium fast bowler. Martin is one of four New Zealand Test cricketers to have taken 200 wickets. He also holds records in most number of not outs in test cricket and stands 3rd up in this list. He remained unbeaten in  52 test innings.

4. Glenn McGrathHe is former Australian cricketer and is considered as one of the greatest bowler of cricketing history. He holds various records through bowling but he has also a funny record of being most number of not out in test cricket. He was not out in 51 test innings and this is the fourth best in this records list.

5. James Anderson– James or Jimmy Anderson is an English Cricketer and is right arm first bowler. Anderson has taken many wickets but has record of not getting out for many number of times.  He generally comes out to bat at the 10th or 11th position and thus for a bowler it is easy to make this record and Anderson was unbeaten in 47 innings.

6. Steve Waugh and Shivnarine ChanderpaulSteve Waugh, former Australian captain and batsmen holder of many records also holds the record of being unbeaten in 46 test innings. Shivnarine Chanderpaul is a West Indies cricketer and batsmen who also holds records of being unbeaten in 46 test innings. Though Chanderpaul has a chance of adding to this record by being not out in the ongoing West Indies and New Zealand test series. These two players are the real holders of this record, as they are batsmen and for them being not out is much more strenuous and appreciable than tail enders. Also, this shows that how both of them had the class of batting with the tail-enders and add up valuable runs to the team’s score.
