As per the latest reports, Sussex have faced yet another setback as Mustafizur Rahman’s debut will be delayed further due to his visa problems. The delay is mainly due to the long vacation for Eid festival which means he has to apply for visa only after the holidays.
The young 20-year pace bowler has initially planned to fly to England on July 13 but with this he is set to miss his scheduled debut on July 15 against Hampshire.
Rahman’s visa procedure could be done “any day”, according to a BCB official after which he could be flying to England to play for Sussex.
Meanwhile Sussex who signed Mustafizur as their second overseas player for the county season have replaced him with Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Kulasekara as a short-term replacement.
The veteran bowler has done a very good job for Sussex as he took a four-wicket haul against Glamorgan in his last outing which could prompt to extend his contract in the absence of Mustafizur Rahaman.
Rahman will now have to target Sussex’s July 21 fixture against Essex. This also means that Rahman’s County stint could only have seven possible fixtures in this season. The player who went for rehabilitation since the end of IPL due to the injuries he faced while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, is keen to improve by playing English season which is getting delayed further and further as fans await his presence in England.
