Indian cricketer Pawan Negi, fresh from his IPL appearance for Delhi Daredevils, notched up his maiden hundred in Dhaka Premier League in Bangladesh in a List A cricket match that helped his side to win the match by two wickets on Wednesday in Dhaka.
The Indian spinner’s team Legends of Rupganj asked the opposition Victoria Sporting Club to bat first. The opponent sets a 260 run target in 49 overs with Mominul Haque scored 82 and Al-Amin Hossain scored 63.
Negi with the ball in hand took two wickets conceding 54 runs from his quota of 10 overs. Commencing the chase Rupganj got off a pathetic start as their top order has gone for 83 runs. From 83 for 6, Negi walked in to bat at Number 6. He played a swashbuckling 124 runs from 89 balls to seal a win for his side with 7 balls remaining. He completed his hundred in just 77 balls.
He chased down the total with a style hitting a six off Chaturanga de Silva. His innings was comprised of 13 boundaries and four sixes. Negi was named for the man of the match.
Negi in his debut match scored 28 and picked up two wickets conceding 30 runs.
In the IPL 2016, the Delhi franchise bought him for 8.5 crores, but he failed to justify his worth in the IPL as he took only one wicket in the IPL. He played eight matches and bowled only nine overs.
Before the IPL auction, he was selected in the Indian squad for Asia Cup T20 and World T20. He played one match in Asia Cup T20 in Bangladesh. He took three wickets conceding 16 runs against the UAE.
Negi’s previous best in a List A match 57. He has never scored a century in any format of the game. And his hundred came in crunch situations, as a result, his hundred worth millions of appreciations.
The 23-year-old promising made his IPL debut for now suspended Chennai Super Kings.
Other Indian cricketers like Yousuf Pathan, Manoj Tiwari, Dinesh Kartik are also playing in this league.
