After winning the T20 and One-day international series against India, the South African team are trailing 0-1 in the ongoing test series after two test matches, Duminy said that the ongoing cricket tour of India is proving to be one of toughest and challenging series for the team.
The South Africa won the T20 and ODI Series against India but lost the first test less than three days by 108 runs in Mohali. The South African batsmen have looked out of sorts against Indian spinners in the second test in Bengaluru as only one day play was possible before rain played spoilsports for the next four days.
Duminy said we always knew that the Indian tour was going to be tough. This is right up there. We always knew that time would come that when we would be challenged. We would be proud of the way we have played until now. The South African spinners Simon Harmer and Imran Tahir operated for the most part of the net session as South Africa looked to commit fewer mistakes than in the previous 2 games.
Duminy said The South African team has admitted that we have made few errors, especially in the opening test. He said that it is about facing the problem and having a plan against it. We are proud that we never buckled down despite challenging conditions. Winning a test series will be a tough task from here but we are sure that we can do it.
The South Africa batsmen have been poor with the footwork apart AB De Villers. Led by Hashim Amla, the Proteas had their practice sessions with the emphasis on batting against spin bowlers.
The pitch in Nagpur will be helpful for spin bowlers and if South Africa does not rectify those mistakes the series will be gone fromSA’s hands. Duminy said We will try to go out and perform to the best of our abilities
