Pakistan are slowly cruising to an outstanding Test victory in Pallekale as they finish 230/2 at the end of day four, and they need 147 more runs to win the third and decisive Test which will give them the series victory with one full day left and eight wickets in hand.
Sri Lanka previously set a target of 377 in front of Pakistan. The visitors started on a shaky note as Suranga Lakmal dismissed Ahmed Shezad for a duck. Then after the departure of Azhar Ali, when everybody thought the home team will have it easy, the run 200 run plus partnership between Shan Masood(114*) and Younis Khan(101*) has clearly put Pakistan in the driving seat.
Masood scored his maiden century striking an emphatic six and played a superb knock while experienced Younis Khan played a supportive innings as they both together stabilized the Pakistan innings and is put them closer to the victory.
Earlier in the day, a brave knock from Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews(122) and a fifty from Dinesh Chandimal(67) got the home side to a considerable lead.
Pakistan pacer Imran Khan grabbed his first five wicket haul as he dismissed the entire lower order of Sri Lanka alone!
If Pakistan tomorrow finally manages to reach the target of 377, which they should do comfortably, it would be the 6th highest 4th innings chasing in the Test history.
