There have been a number of players who start playing brilliantly after reaching a certain age. Also, some players get playing better and better with their age. In this article, we are to lay our focus on the players who became much more consistent in their batting after reaching a certain age in ODIs.
Here is the list of the players with the most number of half centuries in ODIs after reaching the age of 38 –
1. Misbah-ul-Haq – 23 half-centuries
The 40-year old Pakistani captain tops the list. He has been one of the most consistent batsmen for Pakistan in ODIs for the past couple of years. He has come up with some brilliant performances whenever it is required for the team. Sadly, he is yet to score an international century but he has got a good number of half centuries under his belt. He has rescued Pakistan from collapses for a number of times.
2. Geoffrey Boycott – 10 half-centuries
The former middle order batsman of England also makes into the list. He scored as many as 10 half centuries after he reached the age of 38. He retired from international cricket after he attained the age of 40 years.
3. Tillakaratne Dilshan – 10 half-centuries
The current opening batsman of Sri Lanka has been in flying form of late. He is perhaps one of the leading run scorers in this particular calendar year with over 750 runs. He has also struck some centuries alongside his 10 half centuries since he has attained the age of 38.
4. Sanath Jayasuriya – 7 half-centuries
Another Sri Lankan makes into this list. The former left handed opening batsman of Sri Lanka came good for them on a number of occasions. He scored as many as 7 half centuries after reaching the age of 38.
5. Sunil Dhaniram – 6 half-centuries
The former Canadian batsman makes his way into this list. He retired from international Cricket back in 2010. He scored a total of 6 half centuries in his career and all of them came after he reached the age of 38.
