MS Dhoni has confirmed that henceforth Suresh Raina will come to bat at number five position. Although in any international ODI encounter, many other factors plays a vital role like the performance of the opening pair or the runs scored by number three and four batsmen and the over’s remaining with the runs required to win in deciding the batting order  but by and large, Raina has secured his position at 5th slot.

Confirming this Dhoni said “Yes, Raina will bat at number five. That’s how we will move ahead. Unless there are 3-4 overs remaining, then I will promote myself up. Other than that, 98 out of 100 games if the situation is good like it was in Cardiff, he will bat at number five. Ajinkya Rahane will bat at number four. It depends on one-off games though, or if it is a very crucial game for us and if someone is slightly out of form, then at times we will look to promote the in-form batsman, so he can get more runs and play more deliveries for the team. But as a settled slot, definitely Raina will bat at five. I think he is really good there”.

Further justifying the options Dhoni emphasized “As an international cricketer, you have to be really flexible, because more than the batting slot number, the number of overs you get to play in any particular situation is more important.”

Most of the fans of Team India do hope that Suresh Raina will keep on giving scintillating performance and will contribute substantially in lifting the next World Cup.
