Indian ODI Opener Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the ODI Series and the one-off Twenty20 in England due to a fractured finger. Test opener Murali Vijay will replace Rohit in the team and he will fly back to England immidiatley. The same injury happened for Rohit Sharma in the 2011 series where he got his finger injured and returned home.
Murali Vijay had a good Test series in England and that made him the first choice ahead of Robin Uthappa, who had a fantastic IPL. Uthappa got a chance in Bangladesh and in the A tour to Australia but failed to capitalize on it and was dropped for England tour. With the third ODI about to commence in less than a day’s time, India needs to make some arrangements for the opening spot as it will take some time for Vijay to fly in.
So, Rahane might be asked to open with Dhawan and either Ambati Rayudu or Sanju Samson will bat in the middle order. Rayudu looks the front-runner just because of the few matches he played in the past. India lead England 1-0 in the five match ODI Series and the third match will begin at Trent Bridge, Nottingham tomorrow.
