Ruby Kanchi Warriors defeated Lyca Kovai Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in a super over match. In a thrilling encounter, Lyca Kovai Kings batting first scored 126 in stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Ruby Kanchi Warriors managed to score 126 in 20 overs; losing seven wickets. As the match was a tie, the result was decided via a super over.
In the Super Ovar, Ruby batting first piled up 14 runs with B. Indrajit hitting a six off the fifth delivery. In the run chase, Jesuraj bowled brilliantly and managed to take the wicket of Haris Kumar. Despite a six from Murali Vijay, Kings fell short by four runs.
Lyca Kovai Kings batting first lost quick wickets Suryaprakash and Srinivasan. Murali Vijay who scored 24 and provided a resistance was dismissed by Jagannathan Kaushik. However, Anirudh Sita Ram scored 39 and HarisKumar scored 25 that helped Lyca Kovai Kings to the post of talk of 126 runs in 20 overs.
The credit goes to the bowlers of both team as they restricted both teams’ batsmen inside a below par total. Rajamani Jesuraj took two wickets in four overs conceding just 27 runs in four overs and Jagannathan Kaushik took two wickets in four overs conceding 30 runs.
Ruby Kanchi Kings in reply didn’t get a good start as they lost their opener Bharat Shankar for a duck. Bowler M Mohammed dismissed Shankar in the fourth delivery of the first over. Shahrukh Khan and Alagh Prathiban were too dismissed for duck and 6 by bowler Vignesh and Arun respectively.
Nilesh Subramanian scored a well fourth 49 before getting run out by a brilliant piece of fielding combination of Harish and Arun.
Captain Baba Indrajit was unbeaten on 31 and Koushik and Adithya Ganesh scored 12 that helped Ruby Kanchi Warriors to tie the match. They need to score two runs from the last ball of the match to win it, but they managed only one run to tie the encounter. Later in a one over eliminator Ruby Kanchi Warriors won the match.
