Sri Lanka v India: India's first series win in Sri Lanka is just a few sessions away

  • Sri Lanka v India: India’s win is just a few sessions away.

India’s first series win in 22 years is just a few sessions away. India posted a 386 run lead over Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka, when come to chase faced wrath of Ishant Sharma, who heats him up as he and Dhamika Prasad have a fracas at the pitch. At the end of the fourth day, Sri Lanka score is 67 for 3.

Ishant, when came to bat, lost his temperament and released venom with the ball. Upal Tharanga was the first victim of Ishant as he was caught behind the wicket by Naman Ojha in the very first over of their innings. Dreadful start for Sri Lanka, as they were down 1 wicket with just a run on the board. Umesh Yadav from the other end kept the pressure on, and claimed the wicket of Dimuth Karunaratne who batted at no.3, as he was sent back to the changing room for a duck by wicketkeeper Naman Ojha who caught an outside edge off Umesh Yadav’s delivery.

Ishant Sharma strikes again in the seventh over as Dinesh Chandimal caught by Indian captain at second slip. Ishant made a weird- slapping head-celebration while captain Virat Kohli showed aggression throwing the ball in the air.

However, Kaushal Silva and captain Angelo Mathews made a comeback  as they went hammer and tongs at Umesh Yadav and Stuart Binny, scoring 50 runs in 13 overs.

The day entirely belonged to India as with every session India are marching to their first series win after two years. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma started the fourth day on 50 for 3; from there, India scored 274 runs, as the credit goes to Rohit Sharma (50), Stuart Binny (49), and tailenders Amit Mishra (39)and Ravichandran Ashwin (58).

The day has seen some drama as well. Dhamika Prasad delivered two bouncers  to Ishant Sharma,  Ishant got angry after playing two balls he managed to give strike Ravichandran Ashwin. While running to the nonstriking end, he in the video appeared asking Dhamika ‘hit on my head’. But, that did not change Dhamika’s mind, he kept giving bouncers and the umpire called no balls. Finally, Ashwin got out off Dhamika, but it seems the duel did not end as Ishant Sharma ran from the pitch and Dhamika kept chasing him till the staircase of the dressing room. But the thing is that Ishant got into the skin of Sri Lanka as every Sri Lankan cricketer reacted to this incident.

Brief Score: India 321 and  274 ( R Ashwin 58, Rohit Sharma 50, Stuart Binny 49, Nuwan Pradeep 3-51) vs Sri Lanka 201 and 67 for 3 (Kaushal Silva 24, Angelo Mathews 22, Ishant Sharma 2-14).
