India have mixed two hour and fifteen minutes session, after the lunch as they lost three wickets of Stuart Binny, Naman Ojha and Amit Mishra and added 102runs to its total 234 for 8  between and the lunch and the tea break session. Amit Mishra and Ravichandran built a 53 runs partnership before Stuart Binny made a 30 run contribution partnering with wicket keeper batsman Naman Ojha before catching by Dimuth Karunaratne off Rangana  scored 34.

India with their timely contribution got a lead of 300. The lead will give Indian bowlers a chance to bowl freely  and  come  hard on Sri Lanka with some extra energy as the a series win is at stake. India recovered the slump of yesterday as they have lost only three wickets since the morning. Virat Kohli’s weakness on the outside off stump ball exposed once again. Rohit made an excellent contribution to India with his 50 and become the second highest run scorer for India in this series.

But, at a pitch when batsmen are struggling, Sri Lankan bowlers only have Indian tail Enders to clean up. However, the responsibility to carry India’s innings to a place where India will have a huge lead over Sri Lanka. Stuart Binny, the Allrounder soaked the pressure well and made a 30 runs partnership with a debutante Noman Ojha.

Binny missed his fifty by one run as he edged  Dhamika Prasad to Upal Tharanga at slip cordon. On the other hand  Ojha shows his potential with some lovely stroke.

After Binny’s departure Amit Mishra joined Ojha. Mishra like his first innings half century looked solid as he was seen playing one drive, cover drive and even hit Nuwan Pradeep for  the uppercut. Sri Lanka may got two wickets, but it is Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin’s sensible batting frustrates their bowlers.  India was at 179 for 7, Naman Ojha tried to play big shot of Heraht, but his ball took a sharp turn and Ojha got out of Herath as Karunaratne caught him. Amit Mishra could easily score fifty but he run out by the short leg fielder Kaushal Silva.

Brief scores: India 321 and 234-8 (Rohit Sharma 50, Stuart Binny 49, Nuwan Pradeep 3-51) vs Sri Lanka 201.
