By dismissing Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews, Yasir Shah became the 9th fastest bowler and the 2nd fastest spinner to take 50 wickets in Test matches.

He achieved this feat on the second day of the on-going Test match in Colombo. Shah made his debut against Australia in Abu Dhabi on 22 October, 2014.

He was also the fastest Asian spinner to achieve this feat along with Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Both of them achieved the feat in 9 matches but Shah did it 247 days and Ashwin did it in 1 year 9 days.

In this on-going series in Sri Lanka, Shah has been in phenomenal form as he took 14 wickets, till now. Due to his spectacular performance in the 1st match in Galle, where he took his career best of 7/76, Pakistan was able to win the match.
