Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Sylhet Surma Sixers have introduced Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa, in their squad for the fifth edition of the Twenty20 competition which will commence from November 2 in Dhaka after the completion of four successful seasons in the contemporary cricket.
Following the latest entrance of the 25-year-old spinner Zampa, it would also be his maiden stint in the BPL after being the part of different professional leagues across the globe.
The official Facebook page of Sylhet side revealed the inclusion of New South Wales-born bowler Zampa, who did well for Australia in limited-overs cricket in his short international career so far.
“Let’s welcome the Australian spinner, Adam Zampa to the #Sixers family. #BPL2017 #SylhetSurmaSixers,” Sylhet wrote on Facebook account.
However, the other international players included three players from England, in the form of Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan and Liam Dawson as New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was also introduced in the squad earlier.
After failing to make into the fourth edition owing to the financial problems, Sylhet has come under new ownership which was earlier known as Sylhet Superstars.
In a bid to make use of spin bowling well to yield desired results, Syhlet management is looking forward to introducing a couple of stars after naming promising batsman Sabbir Rahman as BPL outfit’s icon player.
Sylhet is bound to feature in the opener of the game against hosts Dhaka Dynamites at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.
Earlier, Zampa has featured in the widely acclaimed competition Indian Premier League’s (IPL) tenth edition, where he has bagged seven wickets in six matches for Rising Pune Supergiant which was led by his national skipper Steven Smith.
The wily customer Zampa has been part of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchise Guayana Amazon Warriors and Sydney Thunder back home in the Big Bash League (BBP) followed by Melbourne Stars and Adelaide Strikers.
Zampa’s best figures in the Twenty20 leg came against Sunrisers Hyderabad when he clinched six wickets for 19 runs, in the ninth edition of IPL.
In the domestic set-up, Zampa has featured in 66 Twenty20 matches in which he has bagged 81 wickets in 65 innings, at an impressive average of 19.76.
Zampa made his international appearance against New Zealand at Wellington in February 2016. He has played 24 One-day Internationals, 10 Twenty20 Internationals while donning the Australian colours.
Zampa, who has shown quality improvement, has bagged 36 wickets in 50-over format and 14 in T20Is.
