The Champions League T20 is getting evenly poised slowly. Till now, we witnessed some cracker of some matches. Tomorrow, there will be a grand clash between Chennai Super Kings and Lahore Lions in the Group A of the Champions League. The match will be held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Bengaluru has been the nucleus for run feasts.
High scoring matches are something obvious in this ground and tomorrow’s match will be no exception to it. The short nature of the ground coupled with flat tracks makes Chinnaswamy stadium a batting paradise. Both teams will desperately go for victories as a single game holds good importance at the moment and the top two teams from each of the two groups will qualify for the semi finals.
After losing their inaugural game in the CLT20, Chennai Super Kings fought back sheer strongly in their very next match held at Bengaluru few nights back against Dolphins. Suresh Raina’s bombarding innings of 90 runs off 42 balls, assisted by Ravindra Jadeja’s cameo in the death overs led Chennai Super Kings to pose a target of 243 runs for the Dolphins. Apart from Dwayne Smith and MS Dhoni, every single batsman of the CSK line up played brilliantly. But Raina was exceptional among them. Also, Ravindra Jadeja and Faf Du Plessis showed good character and responded to the situations well and played valuable cameos for the team.
Also, Brendon McCullum played brilliantly in the initial overs. He missed his half century by a narrow margin. He thrashed the ball everywhere and he hardly played some dot balls in the match. In the bowling too, CSK bowlers showed character and bowled accordingly. After going for runs initially, Ashish Nehra recovered brilliantly and bowled well. Also, Mohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin bowled quite well. The slower ones of Dwayne Brave were great enough and batsmen found difficulty in playing him. CSK looks to be in full swing and it will be quite of a daunting task for the Lahore Lions to beat the Yellow Army.
The Lahore Lions, led by Mohammad Hafeez proceeded to the Group stages ahead of Mumbai Indians. But in their first group stage match, they were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders. They did not find much of a help with in bowling to KKR openers in the likes of Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir.
Their bowlers including Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Hafeez and others bowled at quite a predictable length. Their batting needs to flourish against CSK and the pitch of Bengaluru will surely assist the batsmen. So, big guns in the names of Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal and Nasir Jamshed will surely have to score for the team’s good. Also, their fielding needs to be improved considerably. They have not been quite well as a fielding unit and dropped too many catches in their last match against KKR and that too at crucial moments. Thus, they needs to sort out things before further damage incurs over them.
We will surely witness another run feast and we hope that the match goes down to the wire as both the teams have decent potentials of winning the game.
