The much anticipated Test series between India and Sri Lanka is all set to begin from August 12th. Galle International stadium will be the venue for the first Test match. Over the years Galle International stadium has hosted several close Test matches and has produced great results.

However, the Indian batsman haven’t seen much success in this particular venue with Virender Sehwag being the top run scorer who averages more than 100 in the two matches he played. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman has a moderate average of around 30 in the few matches they played.

Sehwag has played two matches in this particular venue and has scored 391 runs with a highly impressive average of 130. 33 and a highest score of 201*. Dravid, being the second best run getter in this particular venue is far behind Sehwag. Having played three matches Dravid has an average 36.20 with a highest score of 61*. The most bankable second innings batsman VVS Laxman has played two matches at Galle and has scored 143 runs with an average of 35.75. Surprisingly the former Indian opening batsman has a better average at Galle compared to the Indian great Sachin Tendulkar. Gambhir has an average of 33 compared to Sachin’s 32.
