UAE qualifies for the Asia Cup 2016

By the virtue of winning their final game against Oman, the UAE team has qualified for the Asia Cup 2016 main draw. It was an excellent performance by UAE who won all three matches in the tournament. They won against Afghanistan, Hong Kong and the final game against Oman. Nobody expected them to qualify. It was a tremendous performance by the UAE squad who played some excellent cricket in the tournament.

UAE will now play against the big Asian superpowers like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the main draw. The Asia Cup 2016 tournament will start from the 24th February as India will take on Bangladesh. UAE have done well in the tournament. In the last game against Oman, they outplayed Oman by 71 runs. Before this they defeated Afghanistan by 16 runs. In the second match they defeated Hong Kong by 6 wickets.

This team qualified for the 50 over World Cup in 2015 which was held in Australia and New Zealand. This win has given so much confidence to the team which can give the big teams a fear. United Arab Emriates have some good pace bowlers who can extract bounce. UAE played 3 matches and won all of them. Afghanistan who was supposed to qualify for main draw lost their first match against UAE. UAE will play first match of the main draw against Sri Lanka on the 25th Feb at Dhaka.

UAE has not qualified for the World T20 to be played in India from 8th March. UAE have been surprise package in this qualifying tournament. UAE now needs to play good cricket against the top Asian countries.

In today’s match against Oman Usman played a cameo knock scoring 46 off 22 which helped them to reach a score of 172 which the UAE bowlers defended with ease.
