Relay Catches (as they call it) have become a common sight now a days and recently New Zealand’s deadly duo of Tim Southee and Trent Boult featured in one such catch. England were crusing in their chase of 399 when the rain intruppted the match and when the play resumed, England lost Liam Plunkett in quest for quick runs.
Rashid was the only threat to Naw Zealand as he threatened to take the game away from the visitors. Rashid slammed the final ball of Nathan McCullum’s over down the ground, but Southee came in running and grabbed the ball. The fielder realised he was soon going to go across the ropes, and he hurled the ball towards Boult, who was backing up and leaped to took a one-handed catch to dismiss Rashid.
Here is the footage of that catch:
Earlier, Southee combined with Karun Nair in a similar catch during the IPL for Rajasthan Royals.
