South African star batsman Hashim Amla played a funny cricketing shot off the bowling of West Indian pacer Ravi Rampaul in a recent CPL match.

It was the 3rd match of CPL 2016 where the defending champion Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Tridents clashed at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain on 1st July. The funny incident happened during the 19th over of home team’s (Trinbago Knight Riders) innings (1st innings of the match).

It was the second ball of the 19th over (18.2 overs) where the set opening batsman Hashim Amla (Trinbago Knight Riders) was facing pacer Ravi Rampaul (Barbados Tridents). Amla premeditated a scoop shot off that ball, seeing that Rampaul beautifully bowled a slower delivery to him. With the great presence of mind, Amla changed his shot and just pushed that delivery with an open face of his bat to the on side and snatched two runs off that ball.

The shot was so funny that even commentators could not stop their laughter at that moment. Everybody enjoyed a moment where both bowler and batsman showed their presence of mind on the pitch.

Chasing down that total, Barbados Tridents (159/8 in 20 overs) fell 11 runs short of the defending champion’s total.
