Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has been appointed as a mentor of Kings XI Punjab. Sehwag last year played for the same team as a player. Sehwag is currently playing for Gemini Arabians in Masters Champions League in the UAE.  

Sehwag has played the for the franchise in 2014 and 2015 season as a player. In the last season, he scored 99 runs in 8 matches which are the worst performance from the former Indian opener in comparison to his last season performance. 

Sehwag after taking retirement from international cricket was also approached by new franchise Rajkot. But he refused to accept the offer as he is currently involved with the Punjab franchise. 

Sehwag after not getting the call from Indian selectors hung his boot. But he did not bid cricket farewell as he played for All-Star Cricket in the USA and now Master Champions League in UAE, the league of retired player.
