Pakistan batting stalwart Younis Khan has made a comeback in the ODI squad to face New Zealand in the five-match ODI series starting December 8th.
Two months before, Younis Khan lashed out at the selectors for dropping him from the ODIs against Australia as he was in good form. But he didn’t complain much after that and came out strongly in the Tests against Australia and New Zealand, amassing 717 runs in 5 Tests. The selectors simply couldn’t ignore the weight of these runs and picked him in the squad for the first 2 ODIs against New Zealand.
Meanwhile, middle-order batsman Fawad Alam, Pakistan’s second-highest run getter in ODIs in 2014 has been left out. Junaid Khan and Sohaib Maqsood have also been left out due to injury.
Left-handed opener Nasir Jamshed and fast-bowler Umar Gul have made a return to the ODI squad after a long time. Nasir Jamshed was out of the team due to poor form and Umar Gul due to knee injury. Pakistan’s fast-bowling would be boosted by the return of Umar Gul and he would be raring to strike some form before the World Cup 2015.
