Clubs from all around the points table had their own set of goals from this game which made for an interesting weekend of Premier League football. From United’s victory in the Manchester derby to Southampton’s sensational revival against Liverpool, there are many things to talk about from this weekend.

Here are 10 talking points from the Premier League Round 31:

  1. Arsenal keep hopes alive:

A sizzling victory at the Goodison Park saw the Gunners take all three points from a crunch tie this weekend. They are now 11 points away from the Foxes at the top with a game in hand but they will have to be consistent to have a shot at the league title this season.

  1. Foxes seem destined:

A solitary goal from Riyad Mahrez handed Crystal Palace a 5th consecutive home defeat in the league this season. This victory takes Leicester City 5 points clear at the top of the table with just 7 games to go. Surely, the Ranier’s side are itching closer to a memorable league title.

  1. Canaries take a huge step:

Norwich City beat Baggies in the Premier League this weekend and took 3 important points in the fight against relegation. This victory saw them move above the drop zone for the first time this month and a couple of more such results will see them move to safety at the end of the season.

  1. Potters strengthen bid for Europe:

The Potters got a much needed victory in their pursuit of Europea football as they handed a 2-1 loss to Watford who have no real ambition anymore this season. Stoke City will be hoping to get some results going into the end of the season and give a real charge at a top 6 finish this season.

  1. Hammers held at the Bridge:

Chelsea held on to a 2-2 draw against West Ham United who lost a good chance to move closer to the top 4 places in the points table. This draw sees West Ham in 5th place, level on points with United, just 4 away from 4th place Manchester City, paving way for an interesting end to this season.

  1. Swansea City down Villa:

The Irish outfit are all but safe in the top flight next season and made some merry when they beat bottom placed Aston Villa who will start planning for their season in the Championship. It will be interesting to see if the Swans can get some positive result till the end of the season.

  1. Newcastle United take a point from the derby:

Mitrovic stuck late in the game for the Magpies as they took a point from the Black Cats this weekend in an intriguing game at the bottom of the table. Both clubs need points to stay away from relegation but they only managed to share a point each denting hopes of survival for both teams.

  1. Comeback of the season:

Leading 2 goals to nil, Klopp’s Liverpool somehow managed to squander the lead in the space of 15 minutes as a brace from Mane and a goal from Pelle saw the Saints take away all three points leaving the Red’s shell-shocked. This victory will help Southampton in their race to the European places.

  1. Tottenham keep up the pressure on Leicester:

The Foxes increased the lead to 8 points before the Spurs started this game but Pochettino’s men were too good for the Cherries as they took all three points to reduce the gap back to 5 points. This can turn out to be an exciting fight for the title if both teams can maintain this level of consistency.

  1. Marcus Rashford ticks off another United record:

The 18-year old found the net at the Etihad and scored the only goal on the night as United moved closer to the top 4 spot after this week. Rashford, who showed some great skill to set up the goal became the youngest player to score in the Manchester derby in the league, a record he took away from Wayne Rooney.
