Next weekend’s Manchester Derby is the most talked about topic in English football at the moment and everyone is trying to figure out a way which could hand either side an advantage going in to the massive Derby game next Sunday.
Earlier today, Premier League authorities announced the referee for the game and I must say the decision of appointing Marc Clattenburg must have made a section of Manchester City fans very uncomfortable and I dare say that it’s early advantage to Manchester United ahead of the Derby.
Reason why I say it because, Marc Clattenburg was involved in a strange decision a week ago where he was refereeing an International game involving Vincent Kompany’s Belgium and Clattenburg sent Kompany off for holding his genitals on the pitch. It caused a significant row back in England as City fans were not happy with Clattenburg’s decision against Kompany.
Coming back to the Premier League now and in previous seasons, Clattenburg has been allegedly blamed for favouring United especially if the game is at Old Trafford and that will exactly be the case on Sunday when the Manchester giants collide in a must-game of the season.
We are yet to hear any manager’s or player’s reaction on Clattenburg’s appointment but I am sure that Manuel Pellegrini will be asked about this decision and his views on see the most important game of his City career so far being refereed by a man who showed his club captain the RED CARD only a week ago.
