According to the latest report from Daily Star, Arsenal are planning to make a bid for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko after missing out on their top targets Jackson Martinez and Gonzalo Higuain.
The Gunners are looking to add key additions to their striking force and defensive midfield this summer and Dzeko is identified as the one to fill the striker role next season. The Gunners have let go Lukas Podolski earlier which leaves only Olivier Giroud as a recognizable striker left in the squad.
Giroud has been in fine form but Wenger wants to add a new striker as they look to challenge for Premier League next season after an inspiring finish to last season despite a slow start.
Dzeko has been often used as a secondary striker at City and was mostly used as an effective substitute. The player is facing immense competition as City has the likes of Aguero, Jovetic and Bony in teir roster besides the Bosnian.
The 29-year old has failed to make an impact at Etihad and is looking to make a move away from Citizens. Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the striker and would love to have him in his side and is willing to activate his release clause.
Edin Dzeko would be a viable option for Gunners as he provides a lot of aerial threat to their attack and a proven striker in Premier League.
