Arsene Wenger is eager to stop Arsenal’s season from going in to a slide after reports from Express have confirmed that Gunners are very close to signing the FC Porto skipper Ruben Neves. A Bola and O Jogo have reported hos Gunners have sent their scouts in recent FC Porto home and away games to track Neves and his developments.
Neves is only 18 and seen as one of the best prospects in world football from central midfield areas. His ability to play as the defensive midfielder or as the deep lying playmaker makes him the most ideal player for Arsenal at present.
Manager Arsene Wenger is keen to splash €31million (£22m) on signing the young midfield player in January. A lot will depend on Porto’s last Champions League game against Chelsea where a defeat would prompt Neves to quit Porto in favor of a switch to Arsenal.
Gunners are sweating over the 2015/16 season, which started so very promisingly but now is in fear of getting drawn in injury battle. Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla are already ruled out for a week while Coquelin has been ruled out for three months. If Arsenal do not add players in January, they could see their season turn to a nightmare.
