Barcelona are finding it tough to sell Turkish international Arda Turan as they look to fund their big money spending this summer, according to reports in Spain.
The 30-year old who notoriously moved from rivals Atletico Madrid had failed to make any impact at Camp Nou over the past few seasons as Luis Enrique did not get convinced with his performances.
According to Marca, Turan is very unhappy with the way Barcelona had tackled with his situation and is ready to run through his contract that will expire in three years. Both the player and his agent are working towards a move to a new club but they are believed to be not desperate and will only move to another good opportunity.
Recently, Arda Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut said: “Arda is not going anywhere. Barcelona’s directors are happy with him.
“We haven’t spoken to any club about a transfer. The stories that have come out in the media that he will be leaving have annoyed Arda.
“And nor has it gone down well with board members at the club – Arda Turan will see out his contract. He will stay at Barca until 2020.”
Turan has been struggling for proper game time at Barcelona. Coming as one of the big signings in the summer of 2015, Turan did little to impress Enrique and his performances on the field did not replicate the reputation he earned at Atletico.
However, reports in Turkey suggested there has been interesting for Turan from Premier League giants Arsenal and Italian club Inter Milan as the duo set to lock horns for his signature.
Arsenal is believed to be willing to launch a £30million bid to lure the midfielder while other reports suggest Turan is in talks with Inter Milan over a potential move. But the unwanted saga between Barcelona and Arda Turan is expected to continue for the weeks ahead before coming to a decision.
New manager Ernesto Valverde is keen to strengthen his central midfield and has eyed PSG’s Marco Verratti as his primary target this summer. The Blaugrana are willing to spend £70million to sign him which could make things more complex for Turan if he decides to stay.
