Bayern Munich jeopardize Man Utd signing of Barcelona star

Bundesliga champions and German giants Bayern Munich are apparently joined the race to sign FC Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez this summer, according to German newspaper TZ.

Pedro was initially linked with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United but now it is believed that Bayern too have shown interest in the Spaniard.

Pedro transfer saga began few months back when the player denied to extend his contract citing lack of first team appearances in the Barcelona squad. Later he signed a fresh contract but the transfer rumours did not stop.

Chelsea were the first team to be linked with Pedro and it was believed that they would meet his release clause of €30 million. The Chelsea rumours faded away later but as Manchester United became a more prominent name in the race. United are due to part ways with Argentine winger Angel Di Maria who might join PSG. Thus, it was speculated that Pedro would replace Di Maria at United.

Pedro to United is still a fresh news and the links constantly come up in the media. Amidst the United links the recent name which comes up is that of Bayern Munich. Pedro played in almost every game of FC Barcelona in this year’s International Champions Cup held in USA.

TZ believes that Bayern manager Pep Guardiola who use to share a good rapport with Pedro apparently wants the winger at the club. Pedro is believed to be the replacement of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. Neither of the star players had a good season last time for the Bundesliga side as they remained sidelined due to injury concerns.

Ribery is well past his prime and it will be a wise idea to think of possible replacement of the French star.

Pedro who is an automatic second fiddle to Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar at Barcelona will also look forward to play regularly so that he remains in contention for the Spanish national team for Euro 2016.

It will be an interesting battle between Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich in the final month of the summer transfer window.
