Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez has agreed to the fact that the club has recieved offers from other clubs for star winger Gareth Bale but confirmed that the player will stay at the club and he is happy. For French striker Benzema he repeated his words saying that irrespective of offers from Arsenal.
Real Madrid take on Tottenham Hotspur in the opening match of the Audi Cup 2015. Benitez confirmed the news that Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema will not start in the match in order to protect them from injuries ahead of the season.
Addressing the media Benitez mentioned: “We decided not to risk playing them. The players’ health comes first. Benzema will be staying where he is, despite rumours of interest from Arsenal.”
On Gareth Bale he opined: “Obviously Gareth is a key player for us but I can’t talk about offers for our players. He’s an important member of the squad; I know he wants to play well and that he is happy. I’m sure he’s going to have a great season.”
Manchester United were reportedly interested in signing the winger who had joined the Spanish giants in 2013 from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. They were apparently plotting an ambitious bid of nearly 100 million euros for the player. But Benitez’s statement as put all the specualtion to halt. Manchester United will sell their Argentine winger Angel Di Maria to PSG in the coming days as the deal is about materialise.
Arsenal were also keen on signing star striker Karim Benzema to bolster their squad. It was reported in the media a number of times that Arsene Wenger was keen on luring his compatriot’s service at the Emirates stadium. Benzema’s starting position at Madrid is still doubtful as Rafael Benitez is yet to confirm his tactics and formation for the season. The Spaniard has experimented with his tactics a number of times during the pre-season games.
It will be interesting to see the transfer saga of Benzema this summer as still a month is left to the summer transfer window.
