Arsenal’s star midfielder Mesut Ozil is reportedly open to a move back to former club Real Madrid as he has been stalling talks over a new contract with the Gunners.
The German has left Real Madrid for Arsenal three years ago but has failed to claim any major trophies despite winning a couple of FA Cups with the Gunners. Meanwhile Real Madrid has won two Champions League trophies in the last three years since his departure.
The 27-year old still has two years left on his contract but has reportedly rejected a new contract.
According to German Bild, Ozil is ready to make a return to Real Madrid despite being happy at Arsenal at the moment. The player is reportedly very unsatisfied with his club’s transfer activity as they failed to make any impact signings
When asked about transfers, Ozil said: ‘This decision is not with me, but the coach and the management.
‘Of course, we all watch the other teams strengthen and get (to a higher level) in the league. But it’s not my job to occupy myself with it. I want to play my football and the team as best I can help.’
German giants, Bayern Munich were also linked with the player earlier but with them acquiring Renato Sanches, Bayern are not willing to add more players to their squad.
Real Madrid are yet to make an impact signing this summer and signing back Mesut Ozil would add to their already strong squad as they look to conquer Europe yet again this season.
